I just noticed that Gnome 3 was set for release later today, and decided to check whether there were packages available for Archlinux, which is what I happen to use these days. There were: all I had to do was to add a couple of lines to pacman.conf:[gnome-unstable] Include = /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlistand do a packman -Syu and some other magic incantations I no longer remember, log out and then choose Gnome at my login thingamajig.
