BlackBerry PlayBook Will Come With 7digital Music Store Installed At US Launch
The music store will come installed on the tablet at its launch in the United States and Canada, with further international roll out in 2011, the companies said.
London-based 7digital, which is half owned by HMV Group, operates a digital music marketplace that boasts some 13 million tracks. Users can browse, preview and purchase tracks from its vast, fully licensed music catalogue.
In essence, RIM is arming itself with a music store in its attack against Apple and its iPad, which of course operates the wildly successful iTunes store for music purchasing and more.
The company says prices for PlayBook users will match the prices on 7digital.com, with individual tracks and albums priced in a customer’s local currency.
The PlayBook, set for launch in March, was first announced in September last year.
