T-Mobile Quashes Rumors That Cable Indicated It Might Offer Apple’s iPhone
Following reports of T-Mobile stocking connector cables for Apple’s iPhone and iPod products, it was rumored that iPhone cable indicated that the carrier was getting ready to offer Apple’s iPhone on its network in the US.
That rumor has been quashed after T-Mobile spokesperson has clarified that the connector cables were in fact for people using unlocked iPhones in the US and for T-Mobile customers from Europe who might want to use their iPhones when they visit the US. T-Mobile offers Apple’s iPhone in various countries across Europe.
T-Mobile has issued the following statement:
“Select T-Mobile stores will soon begin carrying iPod/iPhone charge and Sync cables to support customers who may be using an unlocked iPhone or are traveling from outside the United States and using an iPhone while roaming on our network. T-Mobile carries the iPhone in Europe, so many people traveling to the U.S. roam on our network with their iPhones. The iPod/iPhone cable also makes a great companion product for our line of MicroUSB charging solutions. The cable can be plugged into the USB port of the universal MicroUSB car, wall or two-in-one chargers to provide customers with a charging solution for their iPod when they are on the go.”
We’ve heard rumors before that T-Mobile will offer Apple’s iPhone in the US but it doesn’t seem to be the case at least for the time being. Verizon is currently the leading contender to end AT&T’s iPhone exclusivity by offering the CDMA iPhone on its network in early 2011.
