iPhone Apps Gets An App Hall of Fame
The fact that an iPhone experience would be incomplete without trying out one of the many awesome apps available for it, would be a understatement.
However, with thousands of apps added each month to the App Store, and with over 200,000 apps to choose from, there is high chance that there could be many apps out there that you'd love to use – but which you missed because you didn't know they existed!
Worry no more! Folks over at 148Apps have a solution (of sorts) for you. They have introduced something known as the App Hall of Fame, which as the name suggests, would list 12 applications on a monthly basis, which they think are the very best on the App Store.
With most users concentrating on newer apps and most probably skipping the older ones, people at 148Apps want to remind iPhone users that there still are some older apps out there that are pure awesomeness.
The first 12 applications to enter the list for the month of October 2010 include:
- Angry Birds from Rovio
- Flight Control from Firemint
- Doodle Jump from Lima Sky
- Shazam from Shazam Entertainment
- Evernote from Evernote
- Plants vs. Zombies from PopCap Games
- Pandora Radio from Pandora Media
- Simplenote from Simperium
- Twitter from Twitter Inc
- Instapaper from Marco Arment
- Homerun Battle 3D from Com2uS
- Fieldrunners from Subatomic Studios
Quite a bunch isn't it?
A jury of 47 app enthusiasts are the ones who decide what apps end up in the hall of fame each month.
The App Hall of fame is only “open” for iPhone and iPod Touch apps as of now. They also plan to add iPad apps sometime in 2011.
We think its a great initiative for app developers and users. We expect the App Hall of Fame should soon become one of the favorite destinations to discover some of the best apps and games available on the App Store.
We would love to find out, which iPhone app or game will be in your App Hall of fame, so tell us in the comments section below.
