If you’re waiting for a Verizon iPhone then it looks like it might not happen anytime soon.

Associated Press reports that Verizon CEO, Ivan Seidenberg told investors at a Goldman Sachs conference that he hopes Apple will build an iPhone for their upcoming 4G LTE network.

But he did not say anything about a CDMA iPhone that has being widely speculated.

According to Associated Press, Seidenberg told investors at a Goldman Sachs conference:

“We don’t feel like we have an iPhone deficit. We would love to carry it when we get there, but we have to earn it.

“I think 4G will accelerate the process, and any other decisions Apple makes would be fine with us.”

“Hopefully, at some point Apple will get with the program.”

Verizon is already building its 4G LTE network that shall be launched by the end of this year.

Seidenberg’s statements does not mean that a Verizon iPhone/CDMA iPhone is not already in the works. As Erika Slivka of MacRumors rightly points out:

Seidenberg would of course not reveal any news regarding a Verizon iPhone launch prior to an official launch, which would presumably involve Apple and Steve Jobs in some manner. Consequently, it is difficult to take his comments at face value, as the companies are almost certainly working more closely together than he is suggesting in his comments.

Seidenberg also told investors that Verizon will introduce tiered plans over the next couple of months just like AT&T who had introduced the new tiered plans just before iPhone 4 was launched.

“We’re going to feather in our pricing over the next couple of months as we introduce new products, new services and try to get that value proposition to fit the added excitement and added capabilities that we’re going to offer.”

According to a survey carried out recently, iPhone 4’s highly publicized antenna problem affected some sales but every one respondent that acknowledged the antenna issue about three complained about the iPhone not being on Verizon.

The results of the survey further validated the study by Morgan Stanley's Kathryn Huberty, which claimed that Apple could double iPhone’s market share by opening up to more carriers.

It will be interesting to see when Apple plans to finally end AT&T’s its exclusive deal for iPhone and brings it to other carriers in the US.

Will it be a CDMA based iPhone 4 or will it be iPhone 5 that supports 4G networks? What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
