iOS 4

One of the major new features introduced in iOS 4 is multitasking, which will allow users to run their favorite third-party iPhone apps to run in the background.

So it will allow you to run radio apps like Pandora, VoIP iPhone apps like Skype to run in the background while you are doing other things such as surfing the web using iPhone’s Safari brower.

Navigon, developer of MobileNavigator (iTunes link), the popular turn-by-turn navigation application for the iPhone, has posted a video showing how its MobileNavigator iPhone app will make use of the multitasking capabilities of iOS 4.

The multitasking feature will be available only to iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,  and the third-generation iPod Touch (32GB and 64GB models from late 2009) users though iPhone Dev Team has released beta version of jailbreak tool, Redsn0w 0.9.5 that enables the multitasking feature for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch (non-MC version).

Apple will be releasing iOS 4 on Monday, June 21st and has already started approving multitasking enabled iPhone apps.

Are you excited about the new multitasking feature? Do you think multitasking will improve the iPhone experience. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
