Android port to iphone 3g

Earlier this month, planetbeing from the iPhone Dev Team had announced that he had successfully ported Android OS to iPhone 3G

Back then, he had mentioned that this was "an important milestone for the more DIY-minded owners of the millions of iPhone 3G devices that are out there".

News is in that the Android port for iPhone 3G is now officially available for download. As you might have expected, the process will require users to jailbreak their iPhone 3G. The new Android port for iPhone 3G will be pretty similar to the port for iPhone 2G so that users will have both iPhone OS and Android on their device in a dual boot setup.

However, do note that while the process technically works, it is still far from functioning perfectly. Planetbeing notes that there are several bugs and performance issues in the recent release that may slow down the system. Also, he is yet to incorporate several power management tools on the newly launched porting tool. Consequently, the phone may not last for more than an hour before the battery runs out.

Nevertheless, if you are really keen to see how Android works on your iPhone 3G and are willing to take the risk, do check out Planetbeing's step-by-step guide on the process by clicking here. Should you try the process out, do not forget to tell us how it goes in the comments section below.
