We are expecting Apple to release the fourth generation iPhone in June or July as Apple usually releases a new version of the iPhone in summer since it was launched in 2007.

Wall Street Journal is reporting that according to “people briefed on the matter”, Apple is working on not one but two new iPhones.

According to WSJ, the second iPhone will be a CDMA iPhone model for U.S. mobile phone operator Verizon Wireless, which will be released in September.

WSJ reports:

The people briefed on the matter said one of the new iPhones is being manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which produced Apple's previous iPhones. The model that has CDMA capability, used by Verizon Wireless, is being manufactured by Pegatron Technology Corp., the contract manufacturing subsidiary of Taiwan's ASUSTeK Computer Inc., said these people.

One person familiar with the situation said Pegatron is scheduled to start mass producing the CDMA iPhones in September, but it was unclear when Apple might make the model available.

We have heard several rumors about Apple working on an iPhone for Verizon. If it finally turns out to be true then it will be interesting to see if the next generation iPhone or iPhone 4G will support Verizon’s 4G LTE, which is expected to be launched by the end of the year. A job listing has indicated that future iPhones could support 4G LTE.

If CDMA iPhone becomes a reality, will you switch to Verizon or stick with AT&T?
